The Mixing/Blending Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily blending operations, ensuring team adherence to production schedules, food safety standards, and product quality expectations. This position plays a critical leadership role on the production floor, directing mixer/blender technicians, coordinating raw material flow, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and customer specifications. This individual will also actively participate in mixing activities as needed and provide training, support, and performance feedback to team members.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Lead and supervise mixer/blender technicians to ensure accurate and efficient batching and mixing of ingredients.
Ensure adherence to batch sheet instructions and promptly escalate any deviations for review and approval; record deviations as required.
Oversee sanitization of all product contact surfaces, including piping, utensils, and blending vessels.
Monitor blending operations to confirm alignment with production targets and quality standards.
Operate mixing/blending equipment as needed and verify machine settings, ingredient measurements, and batch timing.
Coordinate raw material and packaging staging to ensure continuous production flow.
Maintain accurate and complete production records including lot tracking, processing parameters, and batch results.
Ensure FIFO procedures are followed and report discrepancies to Quality and Compliance or Operations Management.
Support ingredient inventory accuracy and proper storage per GMP requirements.
Coordinate with Quality and Lab teams for batch sample analysis and verification.
Ensure compliance with all food safety, GMP, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain blend room cleanliness and ensure team follows sanitation protocols.
Serve as a hands-on leader, filling in on lines or projects when necessary.
Provide on-the-job training and ensure team members are compliant with certifications and SOPs.
Participate in performance evaluations, coaching, and corrective actions with team members.
Identify process improvements and collaborate with leadership to implement efficiency, safety, and quality enhancements.
Work collaboratively with Line Supervisors and provide coverage or support in their absence to ensure uninterrupted production flow.
Minimal Qualifications:
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to guide, mentor, and develop team members.
Solid understanding of batching, mixing, and blending processes in a food manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in basic math and formula conversions, including metric to U.S. standards.
Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and quality.
Ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities, and make timely decisions.
Certified or willing to become certified in forklift operation through PennPak Solutions Inc.
Must complete Food Safety (Qualified Individual) training.
Dependable, proactive, and a team-oriented mindset.
Ability to read, interpret, and complete production documentation accurately.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, stooping, bending, and kneeling near equipment.
Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds as needed.
Work Environment:
This role is primarily based on the manufacturing floor.
Possible exposure to food allergens including milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans.
